Golf Course Maintenance Specialist - Seasonal

Class Title: Golf Course Maintenance Specialist
Classification: Full-Time, Seasonal, Non-Exempt
Salary: $22.00/hr - $30.00/hr
General Purpose
Performs skilled maintenance and operation activities related to Dominion Meadows
Golf Course(“DMGC”) facilities and equipment under the general supervision of the
Golf Course Superintendent or designee. Incumbents in the classification work a
limited term of employment, reliant upon the opening and close dates of DMGC.
Work is performed with limited need for supervision, and may include overseeing the
work of extra help employees and/or acting as a lead worker for lower level
maintenance workers.

Essential Job Functions
Assist in seeding, fertilizing, applying pesticides/herbicides, aeration and watering of
greens, tees and fairways.
Assist in the construction, building or remodeling of greens, traps and bunkers;
assist in cutting, trimming and rolling of greens, raking sand traps and moving cups.
Perform minor carpentry, plumbing and electrical work related to golf course
maintenance.
Perform general maintenance, repair and installation of golf course irrigation
systems by operating ditching machines, gluing fittings, installing electric valves,
wiring, sprinkler heads and time clocks.
Perform general maintenance, overhaul and repair work on small and/or light
equipment such as mowing equipment and power tools; adjust and replace parts to
ensure the safe and effective functioning of equipment.
Perform general janitorial/maintenance activities in golf course facilities, including
replenishing supplies and cleaning restrooms and emptying trash.
Act as lead worker and assign and check the work of seasonal employees on
weekends or in the absence of the Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent.
Assist in coordinating activities of on-site inmate work crews.
May operate equipment related to golf course maintenance including power tools,
mowers, sprayers, turf equipment and snow blowers.
May operate heavy equipment including backhoe, snowplow, and dump truck.

Performs related work as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
AA Degree in turf management or related field, and one (1) year related experience
OR any equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
LICENSE: Valid driver’s license. Must have a WSDA Pesticide License at time of
hire or must obtain certification within 12 months of hire date.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
• golf course maintenance practices, including grounds keeping, horticultural
practices and irrigation.
• standard tools, equipment and materials used in golf course maintenance work.
• the game and rules of golf as adopted by the U.S.G.A. as they specifically relate to
maintenance practices.
• high volume and high pressure irrigation pump stations.
• computer operated irrigation systems including valve in head sprinklers, and
wireless operations of programs.
• how golf course maintenance practices affect (enhance/hinder) playing the game of
golf.
Ability to:
• perform semi-skilled tasks involving carpentry, plumbing and electrical work.
• safely operate specialized golf course equipment around the golfing public and
adjacent homeowners to maintain putting greens, hazards, bunkers and tees.
• operate heavy equipment as needed.
• perform minor electrical installation and repair work of satellite irrigation boxes and
irrigation systems.
• perform minor repair work on golf course equipment.
• understand and follow oral and/or written instructions.
• establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers,
and customers.
• work independently and assume the duties of a lead worker on weekends and/or in
the absence of the Superintendent.
• maintain regular attendance.
• work early mornings, weekends and varied start times.
• work outdoors in varying weather conditions involving dust, pollen, rain and snow.
